After a year of training full-time with Get Coding, I returned to BMW St. John’s in a new role. I work with the management team in an administrative capacity, where I am responsible for managing vehicle inventory, building and ordering new vehicles, generating reports, and handling accounting and payroll for the sales department. I am enjoying the challenge of learning another side of the business and utilizing my detail-oriented and analytical approach.

As ASM, I guided the day-to-day operations of our service desk and shop floor. I gained experience resolving conflicts, motivating others, managing expectations, and improving procedures and processes.I was also responsible for tracking and reporting our KPIs to management. Our department hit its monthly performance targets every month in which I held this position. I also served as a member of our dealership’s OHS committee. I would complete monthly inspection reports and identify opportunities to improve safety around the shop floor, wash bay and tool rooms.During this time, we also changed our dealership management system (DMS) providers, and working closely with a SaaS company through the implementation process led me to consider a career as a software developer.

Most BMW dealerships have a Product Genius, who educates customers about their vehicle's features, and provides tech support and troubleshooting for any issues that come up. As the first person in the dealership to hold this position, I was able to make it my own and take on a broader range of duties.Working closely with the sales and service teams, I was also responsible for preparing all sold vehicles for delivery, training sales staff on product knowledge, and being the go-to resource on electric vehicles for staff and customers. This freed up a lot of time for the sales team to serve customers and prospect leads, and our dealership frequently set new sales records. From 2018 to 2021, we were the #1 dealership in St. John's in luxury new car sales.During my time in the role, I personally delivered over 1800 vehicles across a variety of makes and models. Before my promotion to Assistant Service Manager, I spent a month training my replacement, to help ensure that the same quality work continues after I have left. The role is now considered essential to the operations of the dealership's sales department and the overall customer experience.

I entered the auto industry as a Sales and Leasing Consultant at BMW/MINI St. John's. I learned about building product value, negotiation, overcoming objections, and leveraging social media to generate sales leads. My favourite aspects of this role were building relationships with clients and sharing my passion for the product and brand. Ultimately this position wasn't something that I wanted to pursue as a long-term career, but I was able to parlay my strengths in this role into the new Product Genius position.

As a Wardrobe Consultant, I was a commissioned salesperson who assisted customers with the selection of business, formal, and casual attire. I was responsible for developing a loyal client base and maintaining organized records of product orders for individual clients and wedding events.This role required teamwork and precision for success, as I often collaborated with team members on product presentations and the fitting of custom garments. During this time our team was recognized as the top sales team in Atlantic Canada.
