Undertaking the development of the fibre reticulation designs in conjunction with the host country personnel as part of the overall fibre optic infrastructure associated with the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio telescopes to be located in Australia and South Africa

Working closely with IT, network and facilities teams, undertake project based work involving interaction with many stakeholders to solve engineering problems and deliver network infrastructure solutions for building, infrastructure and communications projects.Specifically,* Supervision of the development of communications specifications for major building and significant projects including consultation with design architects, engineering consultants and IT stakeholders.* Working within existing programs, projects and budget, the development of proposals and strategy for site communications infrastructure budget, growth, and programs. * Project co-ordination of the procurement, design, installation and commissioning of network, infrastructure* Oversee changes & expansion to the the University's communication cabling infrastructure undertaking interactions with carriers, maintenance providers, voice and data cabling contractors* Act as a delegate of the University at meetings with professions (architects), trades (builders, contractors), and industry (suppliers, vendors, utilities)* Co-ordination of in ground services development and service location databases

Oversaw the the technical implementation and rollout of the University's Content Management System on a multiple machine web server farm implemented on a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) server farm under the squiz.net MySource application. Wrote interface code to integrate with other systems as required.Authored a major application (UWA Events) to managed and publicise activities occuring on the University campus using Python.Support backup for systems and network maintenance staff.

Working as part of the University's central IT structure, I performed a mix of programming, business analysis, systems administration and support tasks, primarily supporting staff and student email systems. Designed and implemented a Telephone Billing System with a web-based administrative interface for the University using MySQL and Perl on a Debian Linux system collecting data from an Ericsson MD110 PABX. Liaised to ensure correct migration of data. Implemented a prototype web application to monitor embedded power meters around the UWA campus using Perl, rrdtool and Apache. Worked with other team members to undertake a series of upgrades to the student email system, interfacing it with other enterprise systems, replacement of manual processes, creation of online activation system for University email accounts, associated web based services and administrative tools for staff.

Coordinated Year 2000 compliance survey for the University. Provided specific followups regarding Year 2000 related issues and liaised widely with groups inside the university to ensure awareness.

Maintained Departmental Computer Network, provided end user PC and Macintosh support, coordinated purchasing of computer hardware, managed Departmental email accounts, performed updates to Departmental web site, advised on the Department's telephone system, provided administrative support as required.
