Efforts to slow climate change have profliferated over the last 35 years, and there is good news - falling costs of renewable energy, spread of regenerative agriculture, new carbon removal technologies. There is also bad news - greenhouse gas (GHG) concentrations in the atmosphere continue to rise.In the face of overwhelming information relating to climate change and climate risk an “information paradox” has emerged. Decision-makers at all levels are “drowning in information but starved for knowledge,” and never see the actionable knowledge that would improve their climate decision-making. and accelerate overall climate progress. We need to find better ways to get "actionable" climate risk information to decision-makers. Knowledge management tools are key to that, including the Climatographers' "Climate Web" collective climate intelligence, and our "Climate Change Toolbox" actionable knowledge repository. Across my 36 years of working on climate change, I developed the methodology for the first carbon offset (1989), carried out some of the first studies of nature-based climate solutions (1991), founded the first specialized U.S. climate risk consultancy (1991), managed the first corporate carbon footprints (1993), took the first company (Stonyfield Farm Yogurt) climate neutral (1996), and built the first supply/demand carbon pricing model (1996). I've launched successful start-ups, managed global teams of climate consultants, served as a Lead Author and Chapter Editor for the IPCC, and been Director of Climate Risk for the Oslo-based global risk firm DNV.

My team supported EcoSecurities' other business units focused on delivering carbon market services, as well as developing our own client base. We authored numerous carbon project methodologies under the Clean Development Mechanism, including for coalmine methane and ocean fertilization. We also developed a suite of carbon footprinting services, and developed an innovate score-based approaching to rating the environmental integrity of carbon offsets. We worked with a wide range of companies in the United States, Canada, and Japan, while also working internationally through the Global Environment Facility and UNDP. We worked extensively with electric utilities and other energy sector companies, as well as with sustainability lieaders like Nike and Stonyfield Farm. Through a direct investment in TC+ES Japan's Sumitomo Corp. became a business partner in Japan.
