About Mark Trussler
I have mild OCD, like many people I’m sure. I have to double, triple, quadruple check the front door is locked and that the oven is off. Adds an extra 10 minutes to my morning every day. This spills over (in a good way I hope) into my working life, with a need for the detail. I guess that's the analyst in me and I’m not ashamed to admit it.As time has gone on and my experience developed, I have naturally grown toward the bigger picture and working towards causing change commercially. For what is the need of all that detail if you can't do a thing with it. So I have appreciation for the detail but more desire to do something with it. It's of even greater importance to build and have relationships/partnerships with people, both in the business and with clients/customers/suppliers, to make everything from the tackling of issues to the open thinking of propositions an easy and rewarding activity. Two heads are better than one, I have great appreciation and draw inspiration from the opinions & skills of others. When it comes together, the outputs can be brilliant and really be where value is added.I now thrive on being out of my comfort zone, I have first-hand experience of it and although daunting at first it always make me better, more rounded as a result. Like many people, I have my comfort zones and it's nice to have them but by pushing yourself into different areas and scenarios, seeing and learning from it and other people, your comfort zones grow ever wider.Year on year I have continued to progress and add value, from managing both client and business spends in the millions to developing and providing models that assist in the performance of the business and improve efficiency. I have also contributed to business growth with key involvement in new business wins worth millions of pounds, whilst ensuring the business remains competitively priced via regular benchmarking.

Reporting Accountant (Mat Cover)
Predominately provided maternity cover for the Reporting Accountant role whilst continuing to be involved on the Commercial side of the business where possible. Key tasks included:- Monthly management accounts generation and analysis (p&l, balance sheet etc.).Working to tight timelines primarily dictated by US parent owner (IPG). - Also included review with the Financial Controller & CFO, highlighting key variances vs. budget.- Quarterly budgetary pack compilation required by both the business and ultimately the parent company.- Various weekly/monthly additional ad hoc requests from the parent client plus internal budgetary control procedures.Exposure to the core financials of the business and the reporting requirements of parent company, enabled me to give further context and consideration when approaching new and current business commercials.

Driving commercial awareness in the agency was (and still is) a paramount objective for our team. Developing technologies further enabled us to move from administering information to adding value in the agency.- Ground up design and implementation of new profitability and recovery model constructed in excel; capturing key information from the operating system and provided reporting of client margin and recovery performance; enabling the business to make key decisions. - Further development of the revenue forecasting tool; specifically incorporating the business requirement to capture forecasts at not only a client level, but a departmental level. The key driver being the increasing focus on resource management in the agency across multiple contributing departments.- Key role in implementing new front end management information system; enabling real time information available to the agency.Responsibility for client and department commercials; importantly adding value using the outputs from the various technologies.

- Provided timely financial management and support to the agency's Client Service leads.- Focused specifically on forecasting and budgetary controls around revenue recognition ensuring accuracy and persuasive evidence to support.- Ground up design and implementation of new revenue forecasting tool constructed in excel; enabling the capturing of client revenue information in a set format; providing reporting in real time. This fed into a key team objective of evolving the commercial offering; putting the responsibility of client revenue targets into the hands of the Client Service team. The platform included variance analysis vs. agreed budgets/targets; enabling our team to investigate and conduct regular reviews with key agency leads to identify drivers of the outputs and thus influence and cause change where appropriate. It also cut a large amount of manual data collation and construction.
