About Markus De Ruijter
With years of experience in both industry and academia, I have developed a diverse skill set encompassing enterprise-level software development, sophisticated data processing and data analysis, machine learning, and data visualization.As software developer, my expertise includes the development and maintenance of large scale web applications, industry level desktop applications, and smaller private software projects such as smartphone app development. I am familiar with object oriented programming, design patterns such as model-view-controller (MVC), and concepts such as unit- and integration testing, along with version control software (git / subversion). My experience spans both back-end and front-end development, including handling the database interactions.My data sciences skills includes a broad range of experiences. It includes designing relational database schemas, working with both SQL and no-SQL database management systems, data preprocessing (e.g. standardizing, handling missing values etc.), analyzing data using both classical statistical methods and various machine learning algorithms, and finally the visualization and scientific presentation thereof.I greatly enjoy working on large-scale projects and find fulfillment in seeing projects evolve and enhance in functionality and efficiency over time.
