My career as a machinist began in 2003. Learning the basic ins and outs of manual machining on Stanko lathes and Bridgeport style mills. In 2006 the introduction of CNC milling began. With a vast training process on night shift for 3 years, became a proficient programmer/operator of heidenhain controlled CNC milling machines. During that 3 years, 1st and 2nd year apprentice was completed. In 2009, moved back on to day shift to run a Nicolas Correa CNC mill with heidenhain 420 control. In 2012, graduated from NAIT as a red seal journeyman. 2013, began running a DMG DMF 260/7 5-axis mill. During the two years running this mill, obtained through self training how to program in 5-Axis at the control. Still today the only one who can do that in the shop. Surviving all major economic downturns over the years to today at Armor, now a leadin programmer on the control at the shop. Tool selection, processes, programming. Basically all aspects required are now done individually with little to no help from others. Always a team player, volunteered to head up a social committee for the shop in 2017. Armor has been a great place to learn and grow as a machinist. Even with the limits of my experience on heidenhain only, there isn’t a job that can’t be done with some math, cad software and some innovation. Mastercam and other Cam software are not a part of my programming. Helix’s, complex shaped, thread milling, you name it. Can do it all on the control wih zero aid from cam software. Never backed down from a challenge. Show less
