During my PhD I was a research assistant in the SASSCAL (Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management in southern Africa) project at the Chair of GI Science. Within this framework, I worked on hydrological modelling in different river basins in Angola, South Africa, Botswana and Zambia.My research focused on the development and implementation of the modelling system JAMS. In particular, I was working in the area of the upper Zambezi, aiming to better represent flooded areas in the model so as to represent the hydrological processes in the region more accurately and in greater detail. These improvements enabled changes in climate and land management and their effects in the areas concerned to be modeled more precisely. The results of this research were used as a basis with which to provide evidence-based advice and information for all decision-makers and stakeholders in the region.www.sasscal.org
