Brief curriculum:Dr. Markus Windolf has 20 years experience in biomechanics and medical device development in the orthopedic field. He is inventor and developer of the AO Fracture Monitor, an active implantable sensor system for continuous measurement of bone healing, currently undergoing clinical trial in Europe to obtain CE mark. Further, he is (co-)inventor of a variety of international patents currently translated into medical devices to improve patient care, e.g. the CE-marked Biphasic Plate. Markus holds a Master degree in mechanical engineering and a PhD in human biology. In October 2022 he was named to Stanford University’s list of the world’s top 2 percent of scientists, putting him among the most-cited researchers in the world across all scientific fields. Markus is passionate about driving patient care forward on less-traveled paths with highest potential, and in consequence, started BIOS Medical after 18 years with the AO Foundation.
