Zalando is the leading online platform for fashion and lifestyle in Europe bringing head-to-toe fashion to more than 50 million active customers in 25 markets; offering clothes, footwear, accessories, and beauty. Zalando’s platform connects customers, partners, brands, influencers and a European wide logistics network together. As the principal product manager I was together with the leadership team responsible for setting the product vision and strategy for Zalando's Fulfillment Network platform. The Fulfillment Network offers information about the structure and capabilities of the real-world logistics landscape of Zalando. It's like an internal Google Maps for fulfilling customer orders, essentially answering questions like what are the possible paths for fulfilling a customer order, how long does the delivery take and what kind of backlogs there are in different steps. It’s a core platform product serving Fulfillment Planning, Inventory Distribution and a multitude of other customer facing and internal use cases.I regularly engaged with a wide range of other product teams and stakeholders across the organization to identify customer and business problems/opportunities for leveraging the platform. I split large problem spaces into more addressable subproblems, defined and scoped quarterly and semiannual goals for the product development. I worked directly together with three product teams in Helsinki and Dortmund helping them to navigate and deliver solutions in a highly interconnected product environment.

At the time I joined Zalando its logistics network was in a steep growth phase. New fulfillment centers were being ramped up on a yearly basis to offer customers across Europe more convenient delivery experiences. Due to increasing number of fulfillment centers it had become increasingly difficult to route the incoming supply to right fulfillment centers on a timely manner. Having a suboptimal inventory distribution increases delivery times to customers and delivery costs for Zalando. To solve the challenge Zalando decided to ramp-up network of dedicated inbound distribution centers run by 3rd party logistics providers (3PLs). The purpose of the warehouse was to receive supply, cross-dock it or store it for short-term and distribute it across the network in a timely manner. As the initiative was deemed as successful Zalando ended up ramping up three inbound distribution centersI joined Zalando to lead a product team to build the necessary system capabilities in order to connect the new warehouses to Zalando's logistics network. We worked as part of a larger project team participating all the steps from tendering to launching the warehouses and ramping up volumes. As the product manager set and executed a product vision to create a logistics platform to which 3PLs can connect in order to ramp up new warehouse to Zalando with less effort.

OP Financial Group is one of the largest financial companies in Finland. It consists of 180 cooperative banks and their central organization. The financial group serves over four million customers, offering retail and commercial banking services all over Finland, as well as insurance services. I served as a product lead at the OP Lab, the group's innovation and new business development unit. The purpose of the unit was to accelerate innovation and renewal within the group with an emphasis on exploring emerging trends and technologies.I joined the OP Lab team to drive initiatives in the area of mobility services. At the time the team had already launched Drive Now, a free-floating car-sharing service owned by BMW, in Helsinki, Finland. The desire from the management was to continue exploring opportunities with mobility services. Together with a few stakeholders we build a concept for short-term car leasing, called OP Kausiauto (OP Seasonal Car). The idea was that consumers and SMBs could easily subscribe to a car lease their credit cards. The lease would be charged on monthly basis from their credit cards and after they initial month they could unsubscribe with 24h notice, or keep the car as long as they needed.I was responsible for creating the MVP and launching the service. I worked together with product designers and engineers to build the digital sales funnel (e-commerce site) and required integrations for payments and order management (CRM). I partnered up with an external car rental company to leverage their fleet for subscriptions. I worked together with marketing to create marketing strategies and legal and finance to ensure the service works for the business. As a team we managed to take the service from idea to launch in less than four months which is the fastest ever in the history of the group. In the end we created a new category for short-term lease in Finland. The service was later acquired by Europcar Finland.

Enevo was a waste technology company, providing our patented IoT sensors and software platform to help waste companies, smart cities, and commercial organizations globally to measure, analyze, and manage their waste – reducing their waste-related operational costs and increasing sustainability.I was responsible for Enevo's Operate product. Enevo Operate is a revolutionary product that offers dynamic route planning as well as modern dispatcher and driver tools for municipalities and waste haulers. It uses Enevo's fill level sensor data to predict when their waste containers need to be serviced and then optimizes their collection frequency by dynamically routing waste trucks. The service saved up to 40% of logistics cost by decreasing driven kilometers while maintaining the same (or even better) service quality. As the product lead I was responsible for actively engaging with wide range of customers in public and private sectors to understanding their needs. I discovered customer problems and together with the product designer translated them to my engineering team for clearly defined and scoped features.

Slush is the focal point for startups and tech talent to meet with top-tier international investors, executives and media. Slush is a non-profit event organized by a community of entrepreneurs, investors, students and music festival organizers. Although Slush has grown from a 300-person event to become one of the leading events of its kind in the world, the philosophy behind it has remained the same: to help the next generation of great, world-conquering companies forward. As the CTO I was in charge of creating value to investors and startups across all the activities of the conference. I recruited a team of five highly talented developers to built a world-class online matchmaking tool for investors, startups and media to make it easier for them to find each other and pre-book meetings for the conference. I gathered the development team, did the market evaluation and analysis for the product, defined, designed and prototyped the product as well as launched it together with my team in only 10 months. The tool was used by hundreds of startup companies and investors who booked in total of 3500 meetings for the two days of the conference. At the same time my team was also responsible for developing internal tools that supported other teams and helped them organizing the event and managing all data related. Nowadays matchmaking has become a core part of the conference’s value proposition. The IT infrastructure has also grown to support all global Slush events, not only the one in Helsinki. In 2016 the matchmaking tool was used by over 2000 startup companies and 1000 investors.
