Clinical Computer Scientist
Software development for research and clinical projects in one of the leading radiotherapy research centers. In this role I develop tools and services for the real-time adaptation of radiotherapy treatments. This involves the development of real-time C/C++ frameworks and fast data messaging paradigms to connect a rapidly sampling MRI-machine with the beam steering unit of a state-of-the-art linear accelerator. The MRI-linac project (Elekta Unity) provides amazing challenges and opportunities to develop code, running as fast as possible, in order to boost the patient's quality of treatment and ultimately quality of life.

The dissertation develops motion compensation techniques for radiotherapy using MR-imaging integrated into a novel treatment device, the MR-linac. The integration allows resolve the anatomy state during radiation with diagnostic MR-image quality. By this means, the geometric uncertainty of target positions is reduced which enables new, more effective radiotherapy paradigms. The six chapters describes methods for - rapid target tracking, -fast imaging and image processing, - machine error compensation metrics, - dose reconstruction and combinations thereof, each implemented in real-time and deployed on clinical linear accelerators and MRI scanners.
