Country Director to the Netherlands and Germany at the Nanyang Technopreneurship Centre (NTC) of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore. In this capacity supporting collaborations between Singapore and the Netherlands and Germany with special attention for talent scouting and entrepreneurship development.

Committed to drive cybersecurity beyond the state of the art by roadmapping, platform development and experimentation in international security networks to identify solutions to combat cybercrime and cyberterrorism. Given the global extent of cyberspace and new technologies, the complexity of cyber security innovation requires international collaboration: for example, with Law Enforcement Agencies as INTERPOL (IGCI) and Europol (EC3), Financial institutes and Security organisations/industry. Together with our team of experts and network with excellent research partners, proof of concepts are developed to test new solutions in order to accelerate and counter the pace of criminal innovations.

Develop new security concepts to make our highly connected societies more secure. In close cooperation with various partners. Result: concrete and practical solutions.I am fascinated by internet, living in a free world and innovation. The internet, combined with all inspiring mobile devices, has changed our world drastically. It brings us many good things. On the other hand, we face challenges that threat our freedom. What about the bad, cyber-driven crimes within Dark Markets or in general on the Dark Web. Or the ugly, like online extremism or terrorism on a diversity of domains on the internet. To make our societies more secure, we are doing the following. First, we develop deep understanding of specific phenomena. We live in a big data era, so nearly all information is available in open sources. Challenge is to discover, aggregate and filter data towards actionable intelligence. Second, these items can be of value at strategic, tactical or operational levels. In cooperation with our partners we experiment with big data concepts, close to practice, to experience the added value. Third, in case of successful experiments we support the implementation of the concept within the partner organization(s), mainly by supporting quality assurance.

Within our department multimedia technologies I make connections between high-level knowledge about media mining technology and its application for our partners. Media mining is a collection of technologies that automatically generate meta-data or create structure in large amounts of multimedia content so that content is available at the right time. Relevant markets are, for example, the media sector with large amounts appealing audiovisual or intelligent workplaces where technology supports the worker in his working process.

Within the department Information and Communication Theory at Delft University of Technology I finished my PhD research. The subject was the automatic search and discovery of paper used in the time of Rembrandt van Rhijn. This is relevant because pieces of paper with identical paper structures are used in the same period. This logic can be declared as following. Pieces of paper are equal to each other if they are produced using the same scoop sieve. The identity is determined by patterns that are recognized in the paper, which have their origin in the sieve. Consider for example a watermark, but actually more important chain and water lines. The solutions described in my thesis. These line characteristics are detected in X-ray images of the paper so that similar pieces of paper can be found quickly using an optimized data representation.

Go West was an Internet company. Initially focussing on developing websites. Since these were becoming more sophisticated, the developed knowledge was applied to develop a product: Go-West Web Statistics.
