I am currently engaged as an Independent Contractor to assist in the design and construction of a 5.7-million-bushel, $50-million greenfield site grain facility. I developed the Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) for the facility. I oversaw the production of the plan, elevation, and 3-D drawings. I compiled the project specifications and authored the bid documents which consisted of thirteen (13) separate bid packages for the unique EPC specialties of which the facility was comprised. The project broke ground in November of 2023. Commissioning of the facility is slated for Spring of 2025.

One of Shockwave's patented processes relieves egg food products plant from the cost of disposing eggshells. The process takes the disposed eggshells and separates the membrane that lines the inside of the shell from the calcium shell itself. The dried and finished membrane is milled into a powder and sold into various markets that utilize the collagen-like material. The calcium shell is powdered and sold as a soil conditioner (fertilizer). I was the engineering lead to take the process from the pilot stage to a full scaled-up installation into an egg food products facility.

I was the Project Engineer on a $30 million project that produces premixes consisting of vitamins, minerals, nutritional and pharma supplements for the animal agriculture industry on the West Coast. The project includes significant site development including an industry loop track overpass. The project includes two processes, one to produce pharma supplements and the other to incorporate the pharma supplements into premixes.

EES Companies is a Design-Build company employing engineers, designers, field construction supervision, and skilled millwrights. EES provides design, turn-key construction, and millwright services to ag related industries such as seed plants, grain elevators and terminals, feed mills, bio-fuels refineries, corn milling plants and oilseed crush plants.I secured the consulting contract to evaluate Syngenta Seed Company’s 22 North American facilities in the context of OSHA-driven combustible dust National Emphasis Program (NEP). All 22 plants were studied and reported on. The dust systems of most of these plants were in fact modified or retrofitted based on the recommendations in the reports.I was the on-site representative for much of the Civil portion of a new parent seed facility being designed and built for Syngenta Seeds on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii.

Consultant to agri-business for project services, including the design, permitting and construction of biodiesel plants, oil-seed crush plants, feed mills, and grain handling facilities. Work included a large liquid storage addition to a biodiesel plant in Missouri; design-build scope documents for a 60 million-gallon-per-year biodiesel plant in Illinois; performance guarantee documentation for a 3,000 ton-per-day soybean crush plant and associated 50 million-gallon-per-year biodiesel plant in Missouri, design-build scope documents for a 30 million-gallon-per-year biodiesel plant in Iowa; and design-build scope documents for a 4,000 ton-per-day soybean crush and associated 60 million-gallon-per-year biodiesel plant in Iowa. Clients included Powershift Energy LLC, Progressive Energies Inc., America’s Renewable Energy LLC, Northern Bioenergy, LLC, American Energy Producers, Inc., Virtuoso Biofuels, and BHR Biofuels (UK).

Sr. Project Manager. Sr. Project Manager on the first major scale-up of a biodiesel plant in North America in 2004-2005. Challenging technology scale-up coupled with demanding project completion requirements dictated aggressive management of the project schedule which was accomplished utilizing scheduling software accompanied by constant monitoring and updating. Managed the start-up of REG as a design-build construction company which became the “go-to” provider of biodiesel plants, ultimately resulting in $300 million+ in biodiesel plant construction over a four-year period from 2004-2008.

Vice President, Business Development. Developed new markets for Bratney Companies which included grain storage and handling facilities; unit train handling systems; feed mills; facilities for handling, cleaning and storage of human-consumption grain commodities; and corn storage, handling and milling, and DDG storage and handling for ethanol plants. Facilitated the consolidation of Bratney’s two Pacific Northwest branch offices into one office located in Boise, Idaho.
