I am first and foremost a strong maker and contributor specializing in scalable microservices. I have strong engineering and architectural abilities. I'm an enthusiastic and creative team member able to solve problems that meet real business objectives specializing in highly scalable reactive architectures. The last 7 1/2 years I have focused on reactive microservices using scala, akka, play with nosql databases including mongodb and cassandra. Most recently I have built AWS IoT back-end solutions using lambda, dynamoDb, kinesis and elasticsearch.I'm currently in love with the Elastic Stack.I have been successful developing strategy, roadmaps and implementing the details from the highest to the lowest levels.I am a student of leadership and communication. I subscribe to Simon Sinek's vision of a fulfilling workplace for all, Marquet's 'leader-leader' model and Marshall Rosenberg's 'nonviolent communication'. I recognize that successful software projects are as much about interpersonal dynamics as technical skill. Whether in a maker or a leader role I actively work to reduce drama in the development team and encourage steady and happy delivery.I'm a long time consultant doing corp to corp work. I recognize there are issues larger than software stories and donate a portion of my profits to charities supporting the environment and human wellbeing.
