Computer Science Staff 3 – Emc Legato Networker Administrator
Accountable for the configuration and troubleshooting of backups and recoveries for Unix and Windows environments. Provide on-call EMC Legato NetWorker support for Enterprise backups and recoveries for the Kennedy Space Center, Houston, and Alabama. Manage and maintain Enterprise Disaster Recovery plans and process recovery activities in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring effective Space Shuttle Fleet operations; collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate the daily operations of the company.• Recipient of the USA Director Award for above and beyond Information Technology support and received the Superior Achievement Recognition Award for the successful Hurricane Recovery efforts• Functioned as the Backup Administrator for the IT department and the Tertiary backup for Houston and Alabama; instrumental in the initial setup and configuration for Houston under the Legato platform to allow Houston to be the organization’s disaster recovery site; this initiative significantly reduced overall expense• Successfully reduced tape retention policies and tape costs by revisiting the SLA and moved to greater capacity tape media, resulting in a reduction in the server backup times or media expense• Collaborated with management teams to migrate media transfers to one location which reduced overall cost and standardized internal processes; increased overall efficiencies/daily effectiveness• Worked closely with department programmers to develop scripts which processed mass number of tapes within legato to perform maintenance functions; streamlined the tape processing process
