Mark Chappell is the Senior British Military Adviser to United States Central Command. Joining in 2022, Mark is responsible for providing strategic and operational level advice to the Head Quarter’s 4-star commander and senior level staff across the full spectrum of operations.With the nature of conflict changing at an unprecedented rate, he is committed to remaining at the cutting edge of technological advances, supporting governments and industry in bringing new capabilities into use at a speed that counts, and advising on their effective and efficient use. His wide network of senior defence and industry contacts across the UK, US, and wider Europe allows him a very broad view of both fielded capabilities and future needs.Prior to working at US CENTCOM, Mark was the UK MOD’s Head of Crisis and Commitments. In this role he was responsible up to and including Prime Ministerial level for the provision of planning, advice, and execution of the UK’s military crisis activity. He was further responsible for the MOD’s Counter Terrorism support plans as well as a broad range of related activities in support of wider government department tasks. Mark began his 34-year career in Defence as a RAF fighter pilot. He has held positions in £Bn procurement programmes, commanded the Typhoon Test and Evaluation Squadron and was the Station Commander of RAF Lossiemouth. In his career he has completed over 7 years working within the United States Military at numerous levels of responsibility.
