Pilot in Command on Citation Ultra and XLS aircraft in a part 135 environment. Extensive experience with all weather operations in the mountain west including KSUN, KJAC, KASE, KEGE and KTEX.

Leads the development of advanced MR Spectroscopy technology including data analytics and machine learning integration for improved diagnostic accuracy for Alzheimer’s Disease.

Lead the development of new Quantitative Transmission Ultrasound applications in orthopedic and wholebody. Manages the IP/patent portfolio. Identifies new related technologies and integrates those concepts into the development plans to maintain product competitiveness. Manages academic collaborations.

Guided the design and implementation of the next generation of the Quantitative Transmission ultrasound systems. Supervised all aspects of research, engineering, quality and regulatory activities. Built the technical team from scratch including all aspects of recruitment and employee development. Provided technical leadership in the development of reconstruction and high performance data processing methodologies. Received FDA 510k clearance for the QT ultrasound breast imaging system.

Adjunct professor in Biomedical Engineering and member of the graduate faculty at the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine. Advised students on graduate research and residency research. Taught BMEN/NUEN/SACS 689 Diagnostic Radiology Physics and BMEN 420 Medical Imaging Courses.

Led the core imaging group at the Texas A&M Institute for Preclinical Studies (TIPS). Performed late stage translational research under GLP conditions in support of FDA new drug and device applications. Developed new technologies in PET, CT, MRI and ultrasound in support of leading edge therapies. Performed pharmacokinetic analysis of drug candidates. Developed new methodologies for determining the absorption rate of bio-absorbable vascular stents in-vivo. Developed new methodologies for determining adverse physiological effects of left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) in response to device output. Was responsible Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for the entire TIPS facility with authority over a wide range of devices and radionuclides.

Led the development of the Inveon/microPET line of research PET and PET/CT instrumentation. Developed new techniques for optimizing detector/electronics alignment to improve system performance for small animal imaging studies. Provided project leadership, and budgetary responsibility. Developed design control procedures to bring the Preclinical Division into ISO and FDA GMP compliance. Managed UL/CSA and CE certifications on new products. Developed streamlined outsource manufacturing methodologies to reduce costs and improve system reliability and performance. Electronics and detectors produced in this lab powered the first simultaneous PET/MRI prototype device ever built as well as the first production PET/MRI ever built, the Siemens PET/MRI neuro insert.

Led and operated the High Resolution Research Tomograph (HRRT) project. This was a $10M+ per year program including all aspects of research, development, regulatory, marketing, and sales. Mentored and trained new engineers and scientific staff. Performed and jointly published research with a wide variety of research centers worldwide on the topics of drug development, neuro and small animal imaging. The resulting program produced 17 HRRT systems which are widely regarded as the highest performance neuro PET systems ever built. These systems are leading pharmacokinetic neuro research in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Stroke, Epilepsy, and a variety of dementias at the top neurological research institutes in the world including: Max Plank, Montreal Neuro, CAMH, NIH, TRIUMF, UC Irvine, Yale, Johns Hopkins, Turku, and Manchester.

Developed embedded hardware and firmware for next generation high performance PET tomographs including FPGA and C++ code development. A prototype combined PET/SPECT device built using this technology won the Society of Nuclear Medicine Image of the year award in the late 90’s. Designed and implemented motion controls for transmission measurements for advanced PET scanners. Developed and published research on sub-nanosecond coincidence time alignment that optimized the performance of complex PET systems. These methods form the standard by which nearly all PET systems are time aligned today.

Developed a GUI (X Windows/Motif) and distributed subsystems for controlling the first FDA approved commercial 3D PET tomographs (ECAT EXACT and ECAT EXACT HR), in C++ on SUN workstations.
