I am a highly-trained economist, an inspiring teacher, a skilled manager, and have engaged in policy making throughout the world, with a focus on Africa. I am currently employed by the Center for Global Development as the COO of the Europe office and Director of the Sustainable Development Finance Program. Before the IMF, I worked in academe, the private sector, and held high level positions in the United States government. I am able to inform, motivate, and inspire those interested in the political economy of development and the functioning of bureaucracies. While my career path has been uncommon, it has always been marked by my commitment to teaching, be it in the university classroom, informally with policy makers or business people, or in managing colleagues and staff. My teaching is based on expertise, informed by experience, and squarely aimed at audience interests. I have been recognized with outstanding teaching awards at UCLA and Princeton University.
