Led HPTi's $115M federal technology services firm's Science & Technology business, consisting of 110 PhD scientists and engineers in labs throughout the U.S. Lead strategies for driving profitability and growth through large, long-term contract wins with major defense and civilian agency R&D programs in fluids and flows, structural mechanics, climate and weather, materials sciences and chemistry, nanotechnologies, biotechnologies, network sciences and high performance computing.Led the resurgence of the Science & Technology Business Unit. Won ~$425M in new contracts with Army, DoD, and NOAA. Identified and established unique R&D partnerships with over 30 universities including Stanford University, Georgia Tech, Carnegie Mellon, University of Texas, Ohio State University, and University of California Berkeley.“Summit Award, 2007” for sustained leadership excellence with HPTi. “Mark’s leadership, perseverance, personal commitment, and shear relentlessness resulted in HPTi winning the single largest award in company history, a $215 Million contract to support the Army’s new research [in] areas like advanced materials, intelligent networks, nanotechnologies, and biotechnology….”

Completed consulting engagements ranging from 6 to 8 weeks of strategy development to 12 to 18 months as an interim executive for technology and services firms and emerging technology companies. Developed new vertical market solutions and go-to-market strategy for Fortune 100 managed services firm in the Federal, State and Local markets. Served as COO and General Manager for 3 emerging software companies developing new and innovative Defense applications, bioinformatics technologies, and tax revenue collection systems for state governments.Served as Interim President and COO of GroupServe,Inc., a wireless-apps and web services firm. Recruited by lead VC fund to lead company turnaround, redefine product offerings, and establish vertical sales channels.

Built this $70M Silicon Valley-based software company's government-focused vertical from the ground up. Created the new division's go-to-market, product positioning, and client acquisition strategies. Assembled expert sales and account teams, and implemented a highly successful sales strategy. Responsible for multi-million dollar P&L and government channel sales team (sales execs and presales). Closed new sales channel partnerships, developed new technology partnerships, and led product development initiatives. Client base included Intelligence Community, DoD, State Department, and several states including Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Established $450M in teaming agreements on major DoD programs.

Responsible for executing major international marketing initiatives, developing new business lines, commercializing new technologies, and P&L of new technology initiatives for this $1.5B professional services and engineering firm. Designed and implemented a global commercialization plan as leader of a multinational team of over 30 engineers and sales executives globally.Served as Interim COO for the Panama subsidiary as part of a turnaround plan in the Latin America Group. Published and presented extensively at major industry conferences. Filed three new patents.

P&L responsibility for $3.5M software firm specializing in mobile data collection utilizing Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) platforms. Led sales, marketing, product development, and operations. Developed new markets for cutting-edge technology solutions for agribusiness, transportation and government verticals including Department of Agriculture (USDA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Department of Interior DOI). Maintained client relationships and supervised field teams of over 20 personnel.

Managed government and agency relations for this $3.5B (NYSE) international engineering, construction, and program management company serving industrial, mining, power, transportation, government, environmental, and heavy-civil markets. Responsible for testifying before Congress, securing project financing, and leading a major international relief project. Organized a medical relief to airlift $1.7M in medical supplies to women and children's hospitals in the Republic of Mongolia.
