Development of novel Patient Controlled Analgesic (PCA) technology with Acorn Funding. Started up Six Degrees of Freedom with Dr Janet Cotton, to help orthopaedic companies in wear debris analysis.

• Lectured an intense, third year core course for mechanical, electromechanical, electrical and materials engineering students. Lecturing responsibilities include overseeing course content, practicals, tutorials, class tests and exams. Course attendance was on average 80-100 students per annum.• Course content included gear and gear box design and calculations, balancing of both rotating and reciprocating machinery, vibration, gyroscopic effects, mechanical control systems, energy storage and pulse smoothing systems.

• Position: managing the development of a drug-eluting stent. • Position responsibilities included; research and development of drug elution methods and control, patent protection of developed technologies, establishment of an in-house laboratory, protocols, prototype construction and experimental methodologies and management of pre-clinical studies

• Research into the design and development of vascular implants and medical technology using finite element methods and optimisation techniques for Medtronic Inc. (USA). • Included coding computer aided simulations, mechanical testing, filing patent applications and presenting research findings to Medtronic’s upper management.

• Worked with a team of engineers, architects and project mangers on a number of large scale civil, mechanical and electrical engineering projects.• Tasks involved design, tendering, contract supervision, project management and budget planning of mechanical installations.

• The firm is an international concern, with whom I traveled to different countries assisting in the quality control, production and processing of tobacco. I reported directly to the regional director.• Worked with Stancome in the following countries: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Brazil, Argentina and Malawi.
