  • Sabre Corporation (Then Sabre Decision Technologies)
Sdt Intranet Manager, Then Internet Application Development Team
Sabre Corporation (Then Sabre Decision Technologies) Mar 1997 - Feb 1999
    Dallas/Fort Worth Area
When Sabre Decision Technologies left American Airlines, we needed an online presence internally. I began the development of this project, which included training employees in using a web browser, researching and writing requirements, and consulting on internal applications that would eventually be web-based. This position was part of the Unix Development Support Team. When SDT joined with the other Sabre groups, I went to the Internet Application Development Team. Tasked with the responsibility of providing internet solutions for airlines and other travel industry partners, our team worked with AA.com and Sabre to implement personalized user interface with the Broadvision platform. On my own time, I had created a multi hour workshop and seminar to assist Board of Directors and Project Owners in assessing their needs for a website, what the site needed to contain, and how best to lay it out. Various AA departments took advantage of this opportunity, which gave extra billable hours for our project. This was the beginning of understanding user stories. I studies Web Usability at conference with the leaders at the time.I was responsible for hardware and software management, including inventory, logging registration numbers and upgrades, and communication of schedules for the team, when necessary. The IAD team set up Y2K testing in our own development lab which I assisted with. I was responsible for a variety of special projects for AA, as well.
  • American Airlines
Airline Software Support Help Desk Analyst
    American Airlines Sep 1995 - Mar 1997
    Dallas/Fort Worth Area
Airline Software Support extended across software that runs an airport or airline, excluding Sabre reservations. This included Pricing & Revenue Management, Cargo, Gates/Slot Management, Crews and Airport Operations, Scheduling, and Provisioning applications for multiple airlines worldwide. This 24 hour Help Desk took calls from all levels of airline personnel--from Maintenance Parts Manager to Revenue Manager--as they need assistance with Sabre provided software. Additionally, we managed the running of scripts necessary for the running of some software, assisted with licensing, and created second level support tickets for developers to follow up on.I assisted in the creation of a knowledge base on SAS software. This Help Desk also handled internal AADT [which eventually became Sabre Decision Technologies] requests. Some were solved immediately, others required generation of tickets for personal computer or server maintenance. As a volunteer, I helped with the first user load tests of what became Travelocity.com. As I recall, we started at 5:30 pm, when most users were off the network.
