About Marla Macinnis

“The kind of people who demand their dreams into existence and speak thoughtfully and live passionately without reserve or reluctance.” - Beau TaplinI crave the type of people that poets write about. The people who will never fail to question the blindly accepted norms of society. The people who embrace their peculiarities, would never dare soften their strangeness, and carve roads of their own. With this mentality, I am passionate about opportunities to enact change through transformation and development. While these past few years have been anything but typical, I believe that it has offered us – as individuals and members of society – the opportunity for learning and growth. As 2021 Chair of the Commerce Executive on Orientation, I led the “Smith Commerce Orientation Week Transformation Project,” which improved the student experience and drove necessary change. I am personally committed to driving positive change, and through this project, I contributed to an environment where incoming, current, and future students realized their value and felt confident enough to embrace challenges to engage in personal growth.I love making new connections! Feel free to reach me at marla.macinnis@queensu.ca.
