International Railway Journal's Young Rail Leader Marleen van de Kerkhof studied systems engineering at Delft University of Technology. At that time, she started working on developing the first hyperloop. Intrigued by innovation and transport, she now enjoys impacting mobility and sustainability as international affairs manager at the technology company Dual Inventive. Central to Marleen's vision is her unwavering belief in rail as the backbone of sustainable mobility. Hence, she loves using the latest digital technologies to make working on the European railway infrastructure safer and more efficient to maximise rail capacity. As chair of Jonge Veranderaars and board member of Rail Cargo information Netherlands, she finds it of great importance to inspire the new generation with the green and innovative character of the railway system. Because rail is the future of transport, and youth is the future of rail!
