•Implement the Assess and Improve Performance process by: - assessing actual performance against defined expectations - advocating the use of the Assess and Improve Performance process to all station staff - reviewing assessment results - evaluation and communication of station and industry Operating Experience - providing station with the tools to assess performance - processing, tracking, and trending station performance problems and corrective actions - implementing root cause analysis.• Providing strategic direction for the Corrective Action Program• Promoting corrective action activities• Managing the corrective action process (provide oversight for the Human Performance program)• Providing strategic direction for the Self-Assessment Program • Monitoring and correcting the effectiveness of the Self-Assessment Program, including the review of Self-Assessment Program indicators.

• Ensuring internal independent oversight is performed through internal compliance audits, surveillances, performance assessments, and functional area monitoring to confirm compliance with the Station Management System processes and regulatory requirements• Implement the process for escalating independent nuclear oversight issues• Provide overall direction of the Manage Independent Oversight process• Provide overall direction and management of vendor quality assurance

• Accountable for ensuring that the Health Physics and Radiation Protection Programs meet regulatory and industry performance standards and expectations• Provide field oversight of RP tasks by qualified station staff to ensure compliance to standards and continuous improvement• Provide strategic direction to Supervisors and staff• Ensure a high standard of integrity, impartiality and professionalism is maintained so that all programs are credible and effective• Ensure that responsibilities, authority, reporting relationships and action plans for assigned staff are clearly defined, communicated and effectively implemented• Maintain awareness of developments in management systems• Provide reports to management on RP performance trends, and identifies areas were action is required to improve performance• Prepare an annual departmental work plan and budget, and controls expenditures within the approved budget• Make presentations to station staff, regulatory agencies and key stakeholders on Radiation Protection and Health Physics• Drive performance improvement• Develop and monitors metrics• Ensure gaps are identified and improvement plans implemented.• Ensure training and qualification of direct reports• Support RP training and qualification of station staff• Provide field oversight of RP tasks by qualified station staff to ensure compliance to standards and continuous improvement• Develop recovery plans for gaps in Radiation Protection and monitors progress against plans.
