I am starting a Palliative Care program from the ground up and St. John Medical Center. I am also continuing to focus on geriatric care standards in the inpatient setting. With many overarching-goals it is a great fit. These are global programs meant to change the culture within the organization when dealing with the frail populations of the elderly and chronically ill.Our program is up and running. We were consulted on 585 patients in 2015 and the impact is felt throughout the organization. I head a team that includes a physician that is certified in Palliative Medicine, a Social Worker with a Masters Degree and a Chaplain, all of whom are dedicated and compassionate about Palliative Care.

I have the privilege of working with the greatest nursing staff in a very challenging medical surgical environment.

Managing the shift by proper staffing, placement of admissions throughout the facility, arranging emergent surgeries, and supporting families and staff during events like Rapid Response or Codes. Trained in disaster management as well and FEMA certified.

Determining eligibility for benefits such as Aid to Dependent Children, Medicaid, and the Food Stamp program. Assisting families in obtaining resources that would open the door to education and employment.
