As a photographer I regularly use lessons learned during my 37 years as an RN to help my photo-subjects relax and feel comfortable in front of my lens.The joy I experience and share through my photos of people of all ages and stages as well as the creative processes from setting up the shot, capturing candid moments and post processing is pure soul-food for me!I am also fortunate to be able to combine my passion for photography with my love of nature. After retiring from a 37 year career as a registered nurse I am pursuing my passion and developing my skills as a photographer..
- 37 years of varied nursing experiences across Canada including 22 years in the Hospice Palliative Care field during which I have developed a level of professional expertise in psychosocial support at end-of-life - participated in the planning and design process of a newly opened residential hospice - developed programs, protocols and guidelines for the residential hospice - 20 years participating in the development, piloting and presentation of Hospice Palliative Care educational material, resulting in a reputation for delivering presentations with energy, enthusiasm, sincerity and humour .
- Contributed to the planning and design process of Oxford County's (Ontario) newly opened (Sept 1, 2009) residential hospice- Researched and developed programs, protocols and guidelines for the residential hospice - Oversaw the day to day operations of the hospice for the first 9 months while continuing to develop and improve protocols, manage staff, plan admissions, consult on symptom management and provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
1989 - 1998 Developed and provided a 30 hour Palliative Care Volunteer education course1990 - ? Fanshawe College - Woodstock CampusDeveloped and provided a 30 hour Palliative Care introductory course for nurses1995 - 2008 Collaborated with other educators/facilitators in the ongoing development, piloting and presentation of educational material including the current "Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care" under the Ministry of Health and Long-Term-Care. 2004 - 2007 Ministry of Health and Long-Term-CareCo-facilitated the "CAPCE" course (Comprehensive Advanced Palliative Care Education)
