As a QI specialist at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), I assist with tracking and reporting UDS and HEDIS measures on a monthly basis for breast cancer screening, cervical cancer screening, BMI screening and follow-up, diabetes control, hypertension control, depression screening, statin therapy, and many other population health indicators. At the end of the calendar year all of these measures are reported to the federal government and heath insurance plans. Using data analysis and excel skills such as VLOOKUP are a critical part of my job to evaluate what the data says and which patients are due for certain preventive screenings, lab test, procedures, etc. Ultimately, this is used to offer acute and long-term recommendations and establish new interventions/workflows for providers and clinical staff to improve APLA's measure rates.
