Analysed and reconciled the Output and Input Tax data from SAP accounting and using Excel (V-Lookups and Pivot Tables), which were monitored and maintained tighter controls of VAT payments/receipts. This process lowered the time in completing a British Council VAT return.• Managed and controlled indirect tax audits such as Accounts Payable and HMRC Audit. Collated Accounts Payable sample report from HMRC, requested and reviewed scan copy purchase invoices from relevant department. Uploaded and revised four financial years of British Council output and input tax data by using the new UK VAT Return template from SAP to Excel (V-Lookups and Pivot Tables), which resulted in a £2.1 million input tax reclaim to the Council.• Prepared and negotiated British Council partial agreement (PESM)with the assistance of the Tax Manager. Gathered all four output tax quarter data for the financial year on SAP (i.e. Exempt, Standard Rated, Reduced Rated tax codes) and calculated the PESM percentage to be carried forward to next financial year. This resulted in the Council reclaiming more input VAT to help fund future charitable projects.• Acted a VAT point of contact for the implementation of the British Council Trading system transfer project from Excel to SAP accounting software, which highlighted knock on impact of planned changes and assisted in the business decisions.
