I am Marlon Williams; I am a graduate of the advance diploma program in Sport Management program at Humber College. I have been involved in the sports industry for over twenty-five years, as a player, a coach as well as an administrator. I developed a love for sport early in my teen years and have always been fascinated by the social, physiological, and psychological effects sport has on an individual and vice versa. My involvement in sports over the years has enabled me to gain a lot of insightful experiences and acquire knowledge that I think can be of benefit to the younger generation, hence my reason for coaching. Before migrating to Canada in July of 2012, I was a member of the national volleyball team of St.Vincent and the Grenadines for more than 10 years. As a head coach, I was instrumental in our country’s national teams winning a number of regional championships, most notably the ECVA Youth Championships in Antigua in 2011. Along with a few other coaching certifications I achieved international coach’s certification at levels 1 and 2 from the Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) as well as an international coach’s diploma from Semmelweis University in Hungary. I am currently a community coach with the Marc Garneau Institute and lead the junior girl’s team to a divisional championship gold medal in the 2016/2017 season. Moving forward, I intend to enrol in the Advance Coaching Diploma program offered by the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario, to gain a better understanding of what is required to help elite athletes perform consistently at the highest level and hopefully move a step closer to achieving my dream job and my ultimate goal of one day managing a team at a top-level international volleyball competition.
