Executive Director
I directed the opening of the new cultural center from the ground up, from creation of policies to development and implementation of outreach projects, in less than one year. I launched social media platforms and the website, creating and managing content and KPIs. I curated and designed the inaugural award-winning STEAM exhibit and programs with community partners. Exhibits and programs are available as mobile and virtual resources. I developed multiple grant-funded projects to promote community inclusion, advance collections care, and establish best practices. My most visionary accomplishment is the grant-funded Our Stories project, which engaged community members to be active contributors to exhibits and programs. The project fostered inclusivity, elevated community voices, and expanded community engagement, setting the stage for the organization’s long-term sustainably. Unfortunately, the tribe closed the center and removed the popular website.
Executive Director
Advanced community engagement through social media. Updated museum store to increase revenue and improve visitor experience. Partnered with community members to advance program inclusion. Installed award-winning World War I and Brown County exhibit and fostered organization growth.
Director Of Operations
Implemented new financial procedures to advance best practices.Fostered collaboration amongst team members to experiment with innovative programs, addressing complex organizational challenges.
Curator Of Collections
Conducted initiatives to become the second accredited tribal museum by the American Alliance of Museums and the first State of Alaska designated Natural and Cultural History Repository. I completed a multitude of grant-funded projects that have a lasting impact, including directing the Qayaq Angit’sqaq–Returned Kayak project in 2016, in which a rare historic kayak loaned from the Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology is featured in a broader collaborative with local and national organizations to develop programming about maritime traditions. Working in a tight knit team, I helped envision Pililuki–Make Them!, an interactive exhibit encouraging community co-creation in which visitors participate in Alutiiq-themed crafts to share their own stories. I In addition to overseeing collections and exhibits, I advanced essential fundraising initiatives and participated in publications. I co-edited and authored Kal’unek—From Karluk, a seminal publication on Alutiiq prehistory. I also managed facilities, including and gallery and collections storage renovations and supervised exhibits specialist, collections assistants, and volunteers and interns.
