I am a second-generation respiratory therapist. Although my dad has been a RT for 20+ years, a career in respiratory didn't solidify until later in my life. I was leaving high school and I knew that I wanted to help others; however, I didn't know how to accomplish my goal. A few years later, I found a way to channel my passion. Respiratory therapy. After finishing the RT program and procuring my RRT, I knew that the medical profession was my niche. It became overwhelmingly clear during my class lectures and clinical experiences. From an outside perspective, it might seem I'm following in my dad's footsteps. That is not the case. I've created my own path and my journey is not over.
