Evaluate and treat patients triaged to Express Care; order appropriate laboratory and imaging studies, medications, and intravenous fluids via Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE); perform procedures such as suturing/stapling of lacerations, administering local anesthetic, incision and drainage of abscesses, and removal of superficial foreign bodies; follow up of abnormal laboratory results to include discussion with an attending physician as indicated; document patient medical records using an electronic medical record (EMR) system; using the EMR, provide appropriate patient education upon discharge; refer to, and consult with, appropriate specialists as indicated.

Perform admission histories and physical examinations; place patients on appropriate detoxification protocols, which are ordered via Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE); using EMR, record progress notes and admission histories and physicals for my daily panel of patients; manage chronic medical and psychiatric conditions; diagnose and treat acute complaints; request consults as indicated; order appropriate diagnostic imaging studies and laboratory studies via CPOE and follow up on abnormal results, all in consultation with the attending physician; prepare discharge summaries; provide patient education; orient, train, and mentor new Physician Assistants regarding the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Evaluate and admit patients onto the PA service, after telephone consultation with the attending of record; perform admission histories and physical examinations; order appropriate imaging and laboratory tests using CPOE, and follow up on abnormal results; via CPOE, order medications; request consults as indicated; diagnose and treat acute complaints; provide patient education.
