Hired to be part of Cohort 7 of the Data Science Corps - Wrangle, Analyze, Visualize (DSC-WAV) at Smith College and working with Community Action Pioneer Valley (CAPV) survey data. DSC-WAV is funded by the National Science Foundation and helps undergraduate students have unstructured, authentic data science experiences by working with local civic organizations.• Translated problems identified in non-profit’s quantitative and qualitative Qualtrics survey of community library patrons regarding community needs with regards to a planned local service hub into a solutions report and analysis • Cleaned survey data using RStudio and created a dozen categories for qualitative data using NVivo software

Reconciled over 400 reported files and edited SQL and PL/SQL code for a relational database. Wrote a blog post on MassGIS/ATLAS integration that was published on Mass.gov website. Trained in Microsoft Power BI and PL/SQL.

Supported online access to the Smith College Libraries' special archives collection for distance research and virtual teaching. Increased the visibility and equitable use of collection material. Participated in the digitization workflow by conducting page counts, digitizing the materials using a scanner or hovercam, performing post-processing tasks on scanned images such as creating reference PDFs, writing brief descriptive information (metadata) in Airtable, and other tasks to prepare digital files for delivery to researchers. Learned how to handle archival objects.

The Civic Digital Fellowship is the first-of-its-kind data science and technology internship program that allows innovative students to solve pressing problems in federal agencies. I was selected as part of the Summer 2021 cohort, with a 6% acceptance rate.While at NIAMS, I delivered three data management products over a ten-week fellowship:- Designed a four-phase campaign to organize clean-up of data backlog on the Institute’s public share directories.- Wrote a handbook of data management exercises/workshops, data flow maps, and resources/best practices.- Designed a data portal for the NIAMS CORES facilities including laying out the logic of folder permissions.I also wrote and presented slides for five separate talks to executives, technologists, and other fellows. I completed a four-day bootcamp on the Therapeutic Development Process taught by NIH. I also completed many NIH Training classes in R programming, statistical inference, and reproducibility in medicine.

• Mentored 13 students in a required Statistics class at Bard Microcollege at the Brooklyn Public Library on the RStudio Cloud workspace, running RStudio on Chromebook, and R programming with imported data.• Data importing, plotting, and equations were all covered using the OpenIntro to Statistics book.• Organized study sessions with multiple students as well as one-on-one tutoring.
