Projects & Pmo Advisor | Principal ConsultantMinistry Of Labour Mar 2016 - Mar 2017The Ministry of labour had the need to create a Project Management Office (PMO) to manage and control all its internal and external projects. There were around 48 projects with a total budget of $50 million spread among the different departments within the ministry. They had some projects out of control and there was no efficient/effective guidance or methodology to manage and control the projects. There were 2 previous failed attempts to establish the PMO and in both cases the PMO was terminated. I was approached by the Undersecretary to take the challenge of establishing the PMO and handle the Critical Projects. I was given a period of six months to have the PMO ready and running.Key Responsibilities:• Provide Consultancy as part of the ministry’s Advisory Committee for the Projects Portfolio and various managerial aspects.• Establish the Project Management Office (PMO) and set up the Project Management Process and Procedures for the Ministry.• Develop the new Project Management Formats and Framework according to the nature of the Projects in the Ministry. • Monitor and manage Critical Projects and prepare Progress Reports for Senior Management. • Oversight and supervise 48 projects with total budget of $50 million.• Client management of stakeholders, including at board and executive levels• Conduct Project Management training sessions to the ministry officers to improve their Project Management skills & practices and spread the new culture.
