I was invited to join the Course Advisory Board as an industry representative to Consider the re-accreditation of the Asia Pacific International College (APIC) programs Master of Business and Project Management (MBPM), Graduate Diploma of Project Management(GDPM) and Graduate Certificate in Project Management (GCPM).The Course Advisory Committee is convened to provide advice to the College about the relevance of the MBPM, GDPM and GCPM to current and prospective students, the community, industry, and relevant professional bodiesResponsibilities::- Provide advice on all matters regarding the development and review of the courses;- Consider emerging educational trends;- Recommend, as required, the engagement of external experts to review current and proposed units and courses; and- Recommend to the Academic Board applications for their final review and approval.

The Ministry of labour had the need to create a Project Management Office (PMO) to manage and control all its internal and external projects. There were around 48 projects with a total budget of $50 million spread among the different departments within the ministry. They had some projects out of control and there was no efficient/effective guidance or methodology to manage and control the projects. There were 2 previous failed attempts to establish the PMO and in both cases the PMO was terminated. I was approached by the Undersecretary to take the challenge of establishing the PMO and handle the Critical Projects. I was given a period of six months to have the PMO ready and running.Key Responsibilities:• Provide Consultancy as part of the ministry’s Advisory Committee for the Projects Portfolio and various managerial aspects.• Establish the Project Management Office (PMO) and set up the Project Management Process and Procedures for the Ministry.• Develop the new Project Management Formats and Framework according to the nature of the Projects in the Ministry. • Monitor and manage Critical Projects and prepare Progress Reports for Senior Management. • Oversight and supervise 48 projects with total budget of $50 million.• Client management of stakeholders, including at board and executive levels• Conduct Project Management training sessions to the ministry officers to improve their Project Management skills & practices and spread the new culture.

Project Brief:The UAE Ministry of Federal National Council Affairs wanted to deploy an advanced voting system (with 1200 electronic voting kiosks) for the execution of the Federal National Council Elections 2015 Program. The Program was on a national level and the total Budget was $28 million. The Program was very challenging due to the big number of stakeholders and critical project communications. This Program included 4 projects:1- Developing and Implementing the Voting System Project.2- Selecting and equipping 36 Election Center Project3- Hiring and Training 2000 Election Officer Project4- Election Awareness (via Media) ProjectKey Responsibilities:• Manage and organise the UAE Federal National Council Elections 2015 Program - The World’s First Fully-Electronic National Election.• Develop Master Project Management Plan, Risk Management Plan, and manage all Stakeholders’ requirements.• Conduct Supplier selection process and Contract Management• Assign tasks to project staff corresponding to the project schedule and track budget spending.• Prepare, send, and present the projects’ status report to the executive management (Progress, Health, Millstones, Budget performance, Risks & Issues, and recommendations).• Establish the Project Management Office (PMO) and set up the Project Management Process and Procedures for the Ministry.• Enhance the principles of excellence by implementing the Government Excellence System.

Facilitate process improvement initiatives within Lamprell Group through the Initiation and delivery of projects to improve business efficiency and effectiveness. Increase productivity and reduce costs. Deliver key elements of the Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Business Improvement, Focus on waste elimination, removal of bottlenecks and initiating process improvement to deliver quantifiable results for the business.

Coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects. Plans, estimates, schedules, risk assessment, conducts and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants. Play a key supporting role to the Project Manager to ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day execution of major projects or to act as project in-charge for minor projects.

• Ensure all project works are executed safely and Monitor the risks & HSE within the project• Leading the Fabrication team to complete the project scope with schedule and budget.• Prepare Monthly Man-hours look ahead for all project activities.• Prepare Progress Reports & Delay Analysis.• Coordinate with Operation, Project Manager, QC, Procurement and Client to meet all project technical & schedule requirements.• Lead the workshop team to achieve high productivity and high quality levels and Coordinate the NDT (Non Destructive Test) activities (RT, UT& MPI).
