From 1987 to 1995 I served as film and video editor, principal film critic and feature writer at What’s On in London magazine. Going freelance in 1995, I wrote for NME, Melody Maker, FHM, Stuff and Film Review. I also wrote an action movie reference guide, Action! The Action Movie A-Z, that was published in 1997 in the UK and USA. From May 2000, I worked full time as the senior film editor of Internet retailer BOL.COM. My duties included writing reviews and features, commissioning and subbing freelance work and liaising with the design and marketing departments. During this time I started writing freelance for The Sunday Express, principally celebrity interviews and lifestyle features, film and tv reviews, plus a weekly DVD review column, which I established.
