CurrentSuccessfully avoiding the same household repairs, etc. that I was able to avoid previously due to work commitments, although finding excuses has become more of a challenge. Spend time walking our German Shepard, swearing at our cats (who are always fighting) and attempting to set up a home research lab of sorts in order to continue my work toward the Nobel Prize in Plant Pathology. I remain interested in the biology of fungal pathogens of trees, specifically Cryphonectria parasitica, the causal agent of Chestnut blight, and Ophiostoma ulmi, the causal agent of Dutch elm disease. I'm finding that attempting to do science at home has its own unique set of challenges in addition to the universal one of money. Not to mention that many of those who do so are often dismissed as a bit eccentric. I believe that when employed I used to use the unkind term, "crackpot." But what the heck, it takes up less space than working on cars, and is more engaging than model railroading. So it goes.I remain available, not the least to my relatives, to provide advice on how everyone else should live their lives, politics and religion (all inclusive). The wife avoids these sessions whenever she can and refers to same as "pontificating." Samples available on request or on my Facebook page.
