My blessings start with my huge family! I am forever grateful for my healthy upbringing. I am the LUCKIEST person in the world. I really believe that. I feel that this attitude also empowers me to rise up to challenges and opportunities that I could not otherwise. After I graduated highschool in 2020 I got to go do volunteer work as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was assigned to learn Spanish and serve in New York City, so off I went! Missionaries basically do as much good as they can, trying to serve as Jesus would, and for anyone who has a desire to come closer to God, we show them how and work on it together with them. I had countless incredible experiences while in NYC, and was responsible for mastering the following skills: Relationship building: Met, served, and served with hundreds of people each week.Time management/Planning: we planned out every minute of our day as well as important activities to be as focused on our goals as possible.Teamwork/communication: working with my companion and other missionaries, as well as those we served to accomplish our goals. Leadership: held others accountable for their efforts and helped them achieve their goals in any way possible.After 2 short years I finished my missionary service and began studying at BYUI. After completing my freshman year I worked at the Anasazi Foundation, a wilderness therapy clinic for teenagers. I led groups of 4-8 teenagers with various backgrounds and struggles through weeklong backpacking expeditions, no internet, not even a trail, just us and the mountains. I was primarily responsible for the safety of those I led, but also was a counselor and role model to them as they overcame addiction, bad habits, mental health problems, and more. I was blessed to hear several of the kids I worked with tell me that I changed their lives. I am now a Sophomore and working to gain connections, mentors, and internships that will open more opportunities for me. My current goal is to eventually own a family therapy practice and I am excited to see where I end up!
