Marta Cruz is an architect dedicated to teaching and researching subjects in the intersection of Architecture, Art and Social Sciences. She is particularly interested in the role of drawing as a tool to materialise knowledge, inquire realities and generate ideas across disciplines and academic fields.--She graduated in Architecture (1998, Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto) and pursued postgraduate studies in France: DEA (2003, Université Paul Cézanne) and Doctorat (2009, École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Marseille). From 2012 to 2015, she studied Fine Art - Painting at Faculdade de Belas Artes, Universidade do Porto.--From 2009 to 2017, Marta collaborated with interdisciplinary research teams at the Institute of Sociology (ISFLUP), University of Porto, and in the same period, she was an Integrated Researcher (funded for post-doc research) at CEAU, University of Porto, group Atlas da Casa, where she had the pleasure to coordinate international research teams and a funded research project in the field of Housing. In both research institutions Marta supervised PhD and Master thesis, being part of scientific juries as well. She organised and coordinated several international colloquiums and conferences. Over those years, the results of her ongoing investigations were published in scientific journals, meetings and congresses.--Alongside these years of research activity, Marta Cruz has been teaching since 2003 in different Universities and academic fields, ranging from Drawing, Anthropology of Space, Architectural Design Studio, Contextual Studies and History of Domestic Spaces. Since 2017, she is a full-time Adjunct Professor at ESAD - College of Art and Design, teaching in the field of Drawing.Since 2021 she is a member and the secretary (2021-2023) of the Scientific Board at ESAD.Since 2024, she is an Integrated Researcher at esad-idea, coordinating the research line “album - itineraries on drawing”.—Marta Cruz carries out a regular practice of drawing and painting.
