As an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Pernas Lab, I work with a variety of cell lines to study the origin and mechanisms of mitochondrial stress response. When exposed to a stressor, membrane "SPOTs" form from the outer mitochondrial membrane. These can be observed using fluorescent microscopy by tagging the OMP25 outer-membrane protein with GFP. My future work includes determining the membrane proteins involved in the formation of these SPOTs and what role they play in the overall cellular stress response. Scholarship for research completed in 2024-25 through URSP (Undergraduate Research Scholars Program).

Utilizing a novel D-domain technology, Arcellx develops CAR T-cell therapies to treat a variety of cancer types. With therapies in Phase 2 & 3 clinical trials, patient safety and product quality are key to successful treatment. As the AD/QC Intern, I played a key role in opening the QC Lab in July through instrument setup, SOP writing, and test methods development for in-house assays. As the first analyst in the lab, I worked to pre-qualify the transfer of the CD3 flow assay from the BD FACSLyric to the Accellix Instrument. I designed and performed assays to demonstrate precision, comparability and linearity per ICH guidelines for apheresis and PanT material.

Additionally, I served guests directly, prepped teas and toppings, and ensured that my team was equipped to provide high-quality tea and service.
