Undergraduate Research Assistant
CurrentAs an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Pernas Lab, I work with a variety of cell lines to study the origin and mechanisms of mitochondrial stress response. When exposed to a stressor, membrane "SPOTs" form from the outer mitochondrial membrane. These can be observed using fluorescent microscopy by tagging the OMP25 outer-membrane protein with GFP. My future work includes determining the membrane proteins involved in the formation of these SPOTs and what role they play in the overall cellular stress response. Scholarship for research completed in 2024-25 through URSP (Undergraduate Research Scholars Program).
