I led MREA Grow Solar efforts to advance home, business, and institution adoption of solar and associated distributed energy technologies, and support local governments, schools, and non-profits in their efforts to support local clean energy development. I supervised Grow Solar staff, developed and managed the budget, defined program strategies, and pursued additional funding opportunities. I worked with municipal staff and community stakeholders and have facilitated over 50 successful public-facing solarize programs in IL, IA, MI, MN, MO, and WI. Our Grow Solar programs have generated gross revenue of $1.5 million, and have resulted in lower prices for customers and higher conversion rate for contractors at no cost to the jurisdictional partners.I oversaw solar programming coordination, that included (but was not limited to) management of technical agreements with contractors, stakeholder engagement relationship-building with local government leaders, organizational leaders, media, and the general public. I also worked with my colleagues to lead special projects and partnerships including work with Habitat for Humanity; geothermal and heat pump programs; grant-funded projects on NPO facilities that include workforce development, training, and retention that focuses on underserved communities; and venture capital projects that work to make solar accessible to LMI communities.

Humphrey School Of Public Affairs

Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of academics and industry professionals to understand the technological, regulatory, and economic opportunities and challenges that municipal and rural electric cooperative utilities face related to distributed energy resources. Building relationships and conducting interviews with utility and industry representatives around how municipal and rural electric cooperatives engage with new technologies and distributed energy resources. Continually build and adapt original research to identify the most compelling emerging issues in the energy sector.

CapX2020 is a joint initiative of 11 transmission owning utilities in MN, ND, SD, and WI formed to upgrade and expand the electric transmission grid to ensure continued reliability and affordable service. This research and work will document the CapX2020 experience and will serve to inform industry and policy makers on future transmission upgrade projects. The final products of this work will be a 30-40 page report on the CapX2020 project, a 10-minute video that can be used to educate a broader audience, and an archive of the materials used to inform the report and video including video footage, interview audio and transcripts, policy documents, and reports.

Supported department faculty and other professional staff members by performing teaching and teaching-related duties for a graduate-level Qualitative Research Methods course at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Delivered a range of teaching and assessment activities including tutorials directed towards expanding students skills at conducting qualitative analysis. Facilitated weekly lab sessions and kept regular office hours. Involved in the development of new material, participated in the assessment process using a variety of methods and techniques, and provide effective timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning.

Office For Public Engagement

The Food Issue Area Network connects individuals, groups, and units that have interest in or are conducting community-engaged research, teach, and/or outreach work on food issues to build a more coordinated, internally aligned approach to addressing societal issues. As the graduate research assistant on this project, my job is to map and categorize the 'network-of-networks' within the University of Minnesota system to leverage funding sources, existing community partner relationships, and organizational tools to more successfully engage students in community-based food system work.

Summer intern with Windustry, a wind energy advocacy and education nonprofit in Minneapolis, MN. In addition to conducting research and writing a case study on wind siting and permitting in the Midwest, I planned and coordinated the Wind Energy Center exhibit at the Minnesota State Fair. Duties included fundraising, volunteer recruitment and coordination, and communications.
