My role involves creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel understood, valued, and acknowledged for their unique perspectives and strengths.In my capacity as a mentor, I help students gain insight into their mental processes and behaviours. Utilising evidence-based coaching techniques, I motivate and guide students in setting realistic goals, overcoming obstacles, and developing new skills. A key part of this process is assisting students in creating step-by-step plans to reach their objectives by breaking down larger tasks into manageable steps. This approach is designed to reduce feelings of overwhelm and significantly increase the likelihood of success.Additionally, I emphasise the development of essential skills such as time management, organisation, communication, and self-advocacy. For students with neurodivergent conditions, I work on developing personalised coping strategies and techniques to help them navigate their daily challenges more effectively.I provide a safe and non-judgemental space for students to express themselves freely. This environment encourages openness and honesty, allowing me to offer the most effective and tailored support possible.By integrating these elements into my mentorship, I empower students to manage their mental health and neurodivergence and thrive academically and personally. As a recovery coach, I work with people who have mild, moderate, severe and enduring mental health problems. I provide one to one support enabling members to achieve their aims, focus on supporting people to gain or retain paid work after a period of illness, start volunteering or return to education and lead fulfilling lives. Also, I am embedded in Recovery Groups, mainly in Banbury and Didcot, providing members with the opportunity to work in their recovery through therapeutic activities such as gardening, woodwork, catering or graft based activities.I am also working with other agencies, such as Job Centres, into employment based on the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, alongside your recovery coaching.
