Assists on multiple projects in different phases of development from concept design to construction completion. Responsibilities include tracking/processing predevelopment expenses, construction draws, and line of credit invoicing, tracking and coordinating due diligence deliverables including engaging design and engineering consultants, assisting with tax credit application filing, RFP submissions, and supporting construction closing and perm conversion activities including cost certifications.

In this role I assess the entrepreneurship programming needs within targeted communities, and oversee the creation and delivery of programming content; work closely with Homewood community stakeholders to help redevelop the business district, collaborate with private and public entities to provide entrepreneurial opportunities for minority entrepreneurs and work on initiatives that advance policies around inclusive innovation and equitable development.

The Homewood Innovation Zone program officer coordinates, implements and when necessary develops new Urban Innovation21 programming in the Homewood neighborhood of the city of Pittsburgh. The officer builds relationships with Homewood stakeholders to increase the visibility and impact of Urban Innovation21 programming, engaging with the city of Pittsburgh, elected officials, regional small business development centers and economic development agencies. Additionally the officer conducts outreach within the Homewood community to connect residents to entrepreneurial educational opportunities.

Facilitated the formation of the Homewood-Brushton Business Association to support new business growth and strengthen the existing business district of the Homewood community, coordinated the logistics, and marketing for revival of the Harambee Black Arts Festival, as part of an initiative to designate the community as a cultural destination, coordinated the Homewood Safe Routes to School public safety initiative, which included designing and managing educational programs for students and families, securing funding, hosting community-wide events, facilitating neighborhood safety assessments, and advocating for improvements to local infrastructure, and managed the real-estate predevelopment process for proposed HCV charter school including drafting of state tax credit application documents to support the predevelopment process.

Greater Pittsburgh Area

Assessed several community plans and proposed a community development strategy based on the Main Streets economic development model that focused on commercial revitalization, cultural district development and crime prevention, prepared grant proposals and managed the tax credit application process to secure funds for proposed community development strategy, managed stakeholder relationships with local non-profits, elected officials and state agency representatives to support the implementation of the proposed strategy.
