“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” Albert EinsteinMy diverse experiences working with medical device R&D, instrument and medical data systems, and impactful innovation teams have provided many unique opportunities to solve tough problems. A science background mixed with a healthy dose of curiosity, persistence, and optimism encouraged managers and leaders to create positions specifically for me to delve into and create solutions to solve technical and organizational systematic problems. This unorthodox career from early instrument development, to designing internal FDA tools and processes, through acting as cross business data consultant has allowed me to develop the abilities to see the big picture, figure out how the pieces fit together, build teams to address those goals, and understand and drive the detailed steps to get there. The team created a new standard and process for defining instrument IOT data during instrument definition to ensure data usage post launch. This process was presented in workshops across multiple companies and related work won two innovation awards. - Created a prototype solution for optimizing clinical laboratory resources which became the first customer facing digital product using IOT gathered data. This solution won an innovation award and with other digital products, created the foundation for a new business unit.- Created a fully developed prototype solution for managing training requirements and records, initially targeting optimizing small department administration tasks. With additional resources, the system was ultimately expanded and implemented for over 5,000 people worldwide. It was used as a stop gap to meet US and EU privacy and traceability requirements while evaluating larger platforms.
