Hello! My name is Martha Cruz, and I'm an aspiring sports writer currently working as a digital content producer at KSNV News 3 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Although I was born about 200 miles away in the beautiful city of Long Beach, California, the desert is all I know. I moved here at the age of eight and quickly grew a love for the city and its history. It made writing stories easy and enjoyable growing up, as I visited vintage sites like Cashman Field to catch a 51's baseball game with friends and family. That was where my deep love for sports (particularly baseball) really began.After graduating with my bachelor's degree from UNLV in 2021, I got the opportunity to work for the Vegas Golden Knights for two seasons as a Game Night Staff intern in the communications department. During those two years with the team, I realized that my love for sports grew beyond baseball and expanded to others like basketball, soccer, and most importantly, hockey. Being a part of the Stanley Cup-winning team was a moment I will always be so grateful for and an experience I truly will never forget. Not to mention I also got to experience an NHL All-Star Weekend during my first season.Now my focus is on delivering the best digital content for the Las Vegas valley to interact with and see. I'm very excited about some big upcoming projects that will show off not just my writing, but also everything I'm capable of when it comes to digital creation and the passion I have towards it. I'm extremely thankful that I had the opportunity to practice my sports writing by covering the Las Vegas Aviators games last season and posting game recaps and articles on the News 3 website, along with other sports stories now that Las Vegas is an electric sports town!Overall, I love what I do and I can't wait to continue showing that off and possibly keep paving the way for women in sports.
