As part of its ongoing commitment to engage with the international community to improve health worldwide, Yale has launched the Global Health Leadership Institute (GHLI). The mission of GHLI is to develop the next generation of global health leaders at Yale and around the world through innovative educational, training and research programs to strengthen health systems and ensure health equity and quality of care for all. GHLI supports health leaders to improve the performance of health systems through leadership development, quality improvement programs, and health systems research. The Institute is also a center for debate and progress on leadership and other critical global health issues. GHLI is guided by a model of strategic problem solving which posits that the close integration of academic and practitioner perspectives is central to ensuring positive and lasting change. This model requires specification of the targeted problem, identification of core strategies to achieve a defined objective, leadership to implement the strategy and rigorous measurement to support continuous improvement. GHLI champions a relational framework for leadership, understanding leadership as a dynamic role within a group that can unlock synergies leading to the success of the organization.Martha works specifically on GHLI programs in China, and is responsible for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Yale-Tsinghua Certificate in International Healthcare Management which provides leadership education to 500 women health managers in China over four years. It is funded by the 10,000 Women initiative, launched by Goldman Sachs, which is designed to provide business and management training to under-served women in emerging markets around the world. The Yale-Tsinghua Certificate Program is the only program that focuses on healthcare management in China.

Leeway is a non-profit AIDS service provider, offering in-patient skilled nursing care and community-based programming for housing related services to guide ongoing treatment for persons living with AIDS. Leeway operates a 40-bed skilled nursing facility devoted exclusively to treatment of HIV/AIDS and associated diagnoses commonly found in the chronic care of persons with AIDS. Leeway has supported housing customized to the needs of our constituency – people who at times in their disease management need access to supportive services in order to achieve and maintain an optimum level of independent living.

Worked for Yale School of Public Health on a collaborative with the Clinton Foundation to improve hosptial management in Ethiopia and Liberia as part of the CF's efforts to distribute anti-retroviral medications to persons living with HIV/AIDS
