I am a passionate researcher with a diverse academic background and extensive experience in family science, underserved children, youth, and families, and life-course health. My research spans various projects, including interventions to support immigrant youth’s mental health, interventions to reduce unintended teen pregnancy, interventions to promote couples’ relationships and financial literacy among Latino immigrants from Central America, and interventions to target children and women in the Galápagos Islands. I leverage technical and computational skills coupled with bilingual fluency in English and Spanish to bridge cultural divides and advocate for underserved and immigrant communities. Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Family Science with a focus on Immigration and Development at the University of Maryland, College Park, I am slated to graduate in Spring 2024. I have been honored with prestigious awards such as the 2024 School of Public Health Dean’s Scholar and the Outstanding Facilitator Award for the TOGETHER Program. My commitment to research excellence is underscored by recognitions like the Qualitative Research Interest Group (QRIG) Advanced Doctoral Student Dissertation Award. As a former Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Maryland and the University of Pennsylvania, I contributed to groundbreaking studies on cognitive development, maternal and child health disparities, and family involvement in education. My publications in reputable journals (e.g., Journal of Adolescent Research, Journal of Family Theory & Review, Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, Advances in Child Development and Behavior, and Journal of School Health), reflect my dedication to advancing knowledge and informing evidence-based practices. Beyond academia, I have actively engaged in community service and leadership roles, demonstrating my commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Whether facilitating workshops, mentoring students, or volunteering with organizations like Penn Hospice and La Casa del Sol, I strive to make a positive impact wherever I go. I am excited to continue my journey as a researcher, educator, and advocate, driving meaningful change and promoting health and well-being for all.
