She has won countless awards in business and education to include: 50 Top Business Women in Mississippi, National Stevie Award for Women in Business, National Silver Anvil Award. EducationMartha D. Saunders began her passion for education in the higher education that she, herself, achieved. Martha attended the University of Southern Mississippi, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in French in 1969. Next, Martha D. Saunders attended the University of Georgia, Grady School of Journalism for a Masters Degree in Journalism. From there, she went on to successfully achieve her Ph.D. in Communication Theory & Research from Florida State University in 1990. Professional CareerMartha D. Saunders began her professional career in Education with the University of West Florida, and successfully held numerous successive prestigious titles at this university as well as the University of Southern Mississippi, Columbus State University, and the University of Wisconsin. These titles include, but are not limited to, the following: University President, Dean, Director of Honors Program, Professor of Communications, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Chancellor, and Provost.
