The mission of the Pride Center of the Capital Region is to promote the well-being of all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer-identified people and those affected by discrimination based on gender identity and expression. Based in Albany, the Pride Center has been meeting the diverse needs of LGBTQ people in a ten county region since 1970. Our programs, both at the Center as well as held throughout the region, meet the health and human service needs of the LGBTQ community as well as educate and advocate for those needs in the broader Capital Region. As the oldest continuously-operating LGBTQ community center in the country, the Pride Center has worked to build a welcoming and empowering community for all people.● Raised over $800,000 in sponsorships, donations, and grants ● Provide leadership and day-to-day management of all aspects of the country’s oldest, continuously operating LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community center, serving 10 counties in and around the Capital Region since 1970● Create and execute an annual budget in coordination with strategic direction and agreed upon goals for all Pride Center programs and services.● Plan and execute all major events and fundraisers - Annual Pride Parade and Festival, and the Annual Awards Gala being the two largest and most significant events that take place each year● Hire and manage all staff, provide ongoing team-building, reviews, action plans, and on-going training strategies, as well as implement disciplinary actions as necessary● Perform all accounting and bookkeeping duties, pay bills, make deposits, work with contracted CPA support person on monthly bank reconciliations, and Quickbooks data entry● Perform all payroll functions● Provide oversight and management of all grant funding with significant emphasis on large grant from the NY State Department of Health● Work with all committees and Board of Directors● Act as the public face of the organization
