My time at Blue Sky Bridge afforded me many opportunities to sharpen a diverse set of skills. Practicing open-ended and curiosity-base communication tactics learned in forensic interviewer training allowed me to gain a more nuanced understanding of a child's experience of victimization, my colleague's experience as a woman of color at a majority white agency and the district attorney's office prosecution priorities regarding crimes against children.BSB began a revamp of its website and print materials soon after I began working there. Much like my contributions at MESA on a similar project, I edited copy, found and secured a professional translator, reviewed translated copy, and contributed to stylistic decisions with client experience being the top priority. In 2022, the BSB leadership team became actively interested in starting a DEI council. As a majority white, without visible disabilities, college-educated, and cis-gender agency, BSB staff needed to engage with our privileged identities and impact on our colleagues and Boulder county's communities with marginalized identities. I took on the administrative roles of scheduling meetings, taking detailed and concise meeting minutes and facilitating in person and virtual council meetings. I explored and gained valuable insights into my identities, fostering a deeper understanding of social and structural dynamics and promoting a more inclusive and thoughtful professional environment.That same year, I co-coordinated Cookie Day, a yearly tradition of baking, boxing and delivering cookies to donors and community partners. This project required inventorying and ordering supplies, assessing cookie quantity needs, recruiting volunteers for baking and day-of tasks, corresponding with volunteers to share instructions and maintain engagement, and day-of execution of sorting and boxing cookies, briefing volunteers on last-minute changes and needs, and ensuring accuracy of cookie box delivery.

During my 5 years at MESA, I focused my efforts on maximizing the agency's efficacy with the goal of better supporting survivors of sexual violence. Through legal and medical advocacy and accompaniment, community referrals, and crisis intervention in English and Spanish, Boulder County victims received empathetic and compassionate care. Vital to a client's success was inter-agency cooperation, collaboration, and communication. I built and maintained relationships with over 30 community agencies including 6 law enforcement departments and the District Attorney's office. To further foster collaboration, I co-coordinated Boulder Valley Service Providers group, including recruiting & onboarding new agency representatives, recruiting presenters for meetings, and scheduling & co-facilitating quarterly meetings. With my sights set building a proactive response to minor sex trafficking, I co-created and coordinated Boulder County's Sex Trafficking Task Force with lead District Attorney of the Sex Crimes Unit.Two in-depth renovation projects were needed during my time working at MESA: updating our physical and online space. I co-led the interior design planning and implementation of over 15 spaces, including offices, a yoga studio, and a children's therapy room. In collaboration with a website design team, I wrote, edited, and translated website copy, and provided feedback on design and functionality with user experience in mind.

As lead native English teacher, I prepared and executed English language curricula for students ages 6 to 13. In collaboration with fellow teachers, I adapted the curricula to meet the needs of particular individual students and small student groups to maximize their spoken English proficiency. Outside of school hours, I offered private English language lessons to 6 children and adults in the Bordils community.

I translated English to Spanish legal documents in preparation for client's family, immigration and criminal law proceedings, ensuring clients are fully aware of all elements of caseI also served as on-call translator for same day translation needs for all staff attorneys, allowing clients to understand emerging and time-sensitive issues of case

In the Office of First-Year Experience, I served as the assistant to five full-time staff members: the University Provost, Director of First-Year Experience, Assistant Director, Orientation Director and Director or Transfer Support Services. As the first point of contact in this office, I received families and new students and parents in search of assistance navigating academic, extra-curricular, and social challenges.

As an orientation leader, I honed my small and large group facilitation skills with students and parents regarding university values, the college transition, academic life, and Chicago culture. As an intermediary between the university and parents, guests, and incoming students, I became skilled at conflict management while maintaining a calm, welcoming environment. During the second summer in this position, I assisted new orientation leaders in time management, building respect and rapport in new student groups, and maintaining energy & positivity throughout 16-hour workdays.
