I am concerned about the fact that only 1% of all the water in the world can be used for the production of drinking water and that we use so much clean drinking water to get rid of our waste. Why are we using drinking water to flush the toilet and is it possible to use less water?During my studies and PhD research I specialized in wastewater treatment. In april 2010 I succesfully defended my thesis: Resource recovery from black water. In this PhD research I focussed on energy and nutrient recovery and the removal of micropollutants from concentrated toilet (black) water.Current fields of interest are issues about energy, greenhouse gas emissions, recovery of resources and removal of micro-pollutants in the water cycle. At KWR I worked within the theme Industry, wastewater & reuse as scientific researcher and project manager. Since November 2014 I work at Evides Industriewater as process engineer.I support the Operations team at the wastewater treatment plant of Schiphol and the Sales and Marketing team.
