Working within a clinical therapeutic team, treating people with a variety of different life and mental health difficulties. In this time period I have been doing a lot of individual counselling as well as facilitating group sessions. As a clinical team we believe that the core roots leading to substance use disorder is trauma that has not yet been appropriately dealt with. This means that a lot of the focus during the therapeutic process is focused on deep rooted trauma. A focus is also placed on building self-esteem, self-worth and self-love, practicing mindfulness in all situations, restoring relationships, setting boundaries, embracing emotions and vulnerability, improving communication, creating connections with different people, developing awareness and empathy towards one’s self and others, etc. The life and mental health difficulties that is dealt with is not limited to substance use disorder, it stretches over a wide variety of situations, including: anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, attachment disorders, adjustment disorders, intimacy problems, compulsive behaviours, anger and aggressive behaviours, fear, guilt and shame, parenting styles, cognitive distortions, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), working behaviours, motivational difficulties, career guidance, loss, grief and bereavement, financial situations, etc.

Working with a team to assist recovering addicts within an outpatient program to adjust to the life changes which comes with sobriety. Providing assessments on the life areas effected by substance abuse as well as the adjustment needed in those areas. Creating and implementing interventions in individual as well as in group settings.
